4.29.15 "Learning to Walk by the Spirit!"

Galatians 5:16-21New International Version (NIV) 16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[a] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

I feel like a war is battling in my head between the spirit and flesh.   I hate to admit that that the flesh is in power sometimes and I become angry or jealous. Of course right after I become self-indignant with whatever it is I feel “entitled” to I become consumed with guilt. The guilt can last for days if I don’t take it to Jesus and tell Him what I have done this time. When my daughter has had an argument with one of her friends I watch her try and dance around telling me what happened at school or with her friends when something has gone a miss. I know that if she just tells me she will feel much better, but she holds on to it just as I do when I don’t want to tell Jesus what I have done.   I’m very thankful that we have a Father that loves us no matter what and even when we give into temptation Jesus still loves us. I’m still learning how to walk by the Spirit and I’m sure that I will continue to learn till the day I die.

Father, thank you for your patience and love for us. Please fill us with your Spirit so that we may be your light and walk away from temptation.

Peace and Love,

Priscilla
