Father God, thank You for Your Word and for the Light of Jesus teaching us how to live by Your Word! May we all learn from today's Scripture and be blessed by Your Presence in our day. Thank You, Father, for loving us so that we can love You! In Jesus Name, Amen! Today's Scripture is Ephesians 5: 8- 17
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible - and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. This is why it is said:
“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
If you haven't had a chance to listen to hear Pastor Delton's message from yesterday (June 1st) please work a little time into your day to go to www.pointofgracechurch.org/social.php
, click on "Empty NO More" and listen. It will truly bless your day!
In particular, Pastor shared a story about Merry, a long-time Point of Grace member who went to the waiting arms of Jesus last week. His words about Merry being a light for God were so moving and so very true. She was a real-life model for so many of us about how to fall in love with God and live our lives dedicated to Him. In today's passage, Paul is sharing some great motivators for keeping our focus on Jesus, one in particular that Merry learned and lived out: living as the Light of the Lord. We actually become His Light when we let Jesus permeate our lives so completely that we can't help but look like Him in everything we do. Living like this, in turn, shines His light on the people around us; we not only get Jesus in us, we get to share Him with everyone around us! That is a win-win if there ever was one!
Blessings, friends! Jennifer
