Hello! Welcome to the PoG Blog! The scripture for today is Proverbs 3, 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. 8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. 9 Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
How do I live the day to day steps of life in a manner "worthy" of the calling which I have been given by God? That is the big question from our theme on Sunday. In other words my life should match my calling. The way I live day to day should match who I am.
That gets really practical! How I treat myself and others should be in sync with who I am in Christ!
But HOW? HOW?
This scripture from Proverbs helps me. I get to trust with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding. The life "worthy of my calling" is not a life in which I am just "trying real hard to do right or be good" - it is a life of "TRUST"!
Three verbs catch my attention and feed my soul this morning! "Trust - Submit - Honor" are all powerful actions I get to take today as I set out to live a life worthy of my calling in the day to day practicalities of my life! Even as I am writing this I am distracted by the list of things I have to do today! Anxiety is growing, worry increasing - wait, wait- right now in this moment I get to live in my calling as a child of the living God! Right now, I get to "Trust God - Submit to God -Honor God" in the detail of today's life. I think I will specifically stop right now and pray - applying those three words to the specific issues I am going to live through today!
